Sadly we lost the magificent and towering wordsmith, poet, musician and all-round good-egg IVOR CUTLER – he was 83. Veteran of 21 John Peel Sessions, he was a firm favourite of John’s and us, his listeners.
Best to let the man speak for himself so I shall upload something shortly after a rummage in my drives! The link(s) shall go here:
Dubster from http://johnpeeltapes2.blogspot.com/ has produced An Ivor Cutler tribute here: http://rapidshare.de/files/14947731/Ivor_Cutler.zip
Unfortunately I haven’t been able to download a thing from either rapidshare or megaupload for months now due to their ISP/proxy blocking restrictions and I know I’m not alone in this predicament so I hope you have better luck.

From now on I shall add any extra Cutler internet sightings here…
Some of the best comments to surface have been from those who either knew Ivor personally, sorry that should be Mr. Cutler of course, or had the good fortune just to happen upon him somewhere unexpectedly.
This page has a couple of those: http://www.barbelith.com/topic/24048
have you tried becoming a premium rapidshare user? I think restrictions are lifted, for about £16 for three months you get unlimited front of the que fast downloads. Great if you vist lost of blogs that have rae albums for download and all that peel stuff. well worth the money.
i never seem to get anywhere with megaupload. most frustrating when there are all those treasures out there. at least there’s andy’s show tonight instead …
I have seriously been giving thought to getting one of those premium accounts, what stops me is this:
Take Ivor Cutler for example, or anyone with a modest popularity that really depend on the revenue generated from their work to pay the rent and eat. Trading music between fans is one thing (record companies actively send their product to mp3 bloggers because they recognise it’s promotional strength) but when it comes to a third parties openly profiteering from hosting other people’s work (and giving nothing back in terms of a review or promotion) I’m afraid that leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.
Faceless file hosting is open theft as far as I’m concerned.
The sad thing is I’m still considering the option and that really annoys me. Shouldn’t principles rank higher than capitalism?
I miss the old sod. He was so much fun to listen to, especially the “Life in a Scotch Sitting Room” series.
