The Pictures Are Better On Radio

A quick roundup of some radio highlights. More of those actual John Peel downloads tomorrow.

Pink Floyd
Days in The Life: Pink Floyd at 40
Saturday 17th November BBC Radio 2 20:00 – 21:00
“Two part documentary in which the four members of Pink Floyd talk about 40 years in the business.” Available via Listen Again for the customary 7 days following each broadcast. And also still available to download is, The Wish You’d Be Here – The History of Pink Floyd. The documentary from 2002.

Kraftwerk
Kraftwerk: We Are the Robots
Thursday 22nd November BBC Radio 4 11:30 – 12:00
“Marc Riley traces the career of Kraftwerk, whose 1970s electronic music owed more to the experimental German classical compositions of Karlheinz Stockhausen than to any pop tradition. They were part of a new generation of young West Germans, living in the shadow of the Cold War, who identified with the need to recapture a German cultural identity distinct from that of Britain and America.”

Radiohead
Steve Lamacq’s programme on Monday 19th November 16:00 – 19:00: “Thom and Ed join Lamacq to speak for the first time about ‘In Rainbows'”. I gather they’ll be making an appearance at around 17:00 but don’t take my word for that! The following day, Tuesday 20th November they pop up on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 programme which runs from 19:00 to 21:00.

Mighty Boosh
Mighty Boosh in the Live Lounge Broadcast on Radio 1 Thursday 15th November. And on the Shaun Keaveny’s 6 Music breakfast show Broadcast on 6 Music Tuesday 13th November, with additional video here
