John Peel Birthday Downloads

John’s Birthday

Today is a special day. One for reflection that’s tinged with both sadness and joy. And I can find no better words to express how I feel than than the message that appeared on my blog this time last year, except to add, we were just lucky to have known him.

30th of August 1939 is the date John Robert Parker Ravenscroft was born – as most us know well enough. He would come to be known as John Peel or simply Peelie and would go on to change the lives and fortunes of millions across five decades.

It’s by no means an exaggeration to say he brought hope, excitement and opportunities to all of us and that his influence will continue to be felt wherever music, integrity, laughter and originality reside.

We miss you and we celebrate you John, today and everyday.

Thanks Andrew – I’m sure many of the files here are ones you’ve contributed yourself!

Does anybody have – or know where I can find – the full tracklisting for the first Peel tribute broadcast 16 Dec 2004, ie all the tunes played, not just the DJ sets. Can’t find it anywhere!

    Thanks a lot.
